14" Ring Frame - This ultra light weight design allows you to view and access your work easily with the additional hole in the base. The hole also allows for extra venting of heat that may be trapped on your lap while working on a large project. Easy Turn T-Knob is now stardard on all Ring frames. Ideal for Quilting and Rug Hooking. Rug Hookers need to purchase the 6" bolt.
Please note: Ring Frames do not have any area to mount our unique magnetic setup, so these are not compatible with our lap stands or floor stand. The Vented Frame and Original Designs have the magnetic bottoms.
How to choose the best size hoop or frame... If you are trying to select the correct size hoop, try this tip:
"To select the correct quilting hoop/frame, a quilter should measure the distance from the inside of the elbow to the second joint of the first finger or to the tip of your middle finger. I have seen both of these measurements quoted . These lengths are the largest diameter quilting hoops/frames that can be used comfortably, without causing shoulder or back pain. Each quilter should pick a hoop that seems most comfortable for the current project. The most purchased size is a 14" frame/hoop and the 16" comes in as a close second place purchase. Many quilters will often purchase several sizes of hoops/frames, including a little 12" travel frame for on-the-go projects or smaller projects.
Now should I go with a traditional round or a square hoop? Hmmm? Why use a square hoop vs. a round hoop? Well, to start, a square hoop has a little more surface area in those four corners. For example, a 14" square hoop has the same surface area as a 16" round hoop. This means you don't have to move the fabric in and out of a hoop as much. Next, the square hoop can be used when quilting borders and blocks. You can secure three sides of your quilt equally, and have the edge of the border running through the center of the hoop, and quilt all the way to the edge. When the block fits inside the hoop, it allows you to quilt one block at a time without moving the hoop as often.
Adding a finish to your purchase in my opinion is a smart move. By clear coating the item it will seal and protect the wood for years of use. Think of it as a small piece of prized furniture. Color choices are just for looks but add beauty to the item."

I spent many weeks reading reviews on every lap hoop and quilt frame I could and kept coming back to the Barnett ' s laptop hoop. I ordered a 14" in hopes it would satisfy me. I got it two weeks ago and I've used it every day and I LOVE IT ! It's absolutely perfect for me. I can sit back in my chair and have it in my lap quilting while my family is watching tv and if I need to get up to do something I can set it to the side or in my chair until I come back to it. It's not in the way like a floor frame and it keeps what I'm working on raised up when I set it down somewhere and I don't have to hold on to the hoop while I'm quilting to raise it up so I can use both hands to quilt faster. The quality of the hand crafted hoop is so great that I can see it lasting more years than me so it will passed on hopefully to a granddaughter (or grandson, who knows) that loves quilting too. I made the right choice. VERY HAPPY !
