New Square Hoop Design
16" Ring Frame with Square Hoop - This ultra light weight design allows you to view and access your work easily with the additional hole in the base. The hole also allows for extra venting of heat that may be trapped on your lap while working on a large project. This 16" Square Hoop Frame will sit comfortably on your lap and allow you to use both hands with ease.. The 4 legs elevate your work approximately 6 inches off your lap, allowing plenty of clearance for your hands. Easy Turn T-knob is now standard on all frames.
Please note: Ring Frames do not have any area to mount our unique magnetic setup, so these are not compatible with our lap stands or floor stand. The Vented Frame and Original Designs have the magnetic bottoms.
How to choose the best size hoop or frame... If you are trying to select the correct size hoop, try this tip:
"To select the correct quilting hoop/frame, a quilter should measure the distance from the inside of the elbow to the second joint of the first finger or to the tip of your middle finger. I have seen both of these measurements quoted . These lengths are the largest diameter quilting hoops/frames that can be used comfortably, without causing shoulder or back pain. Each quilter should pick a hoop that seems most comfortable for the current project. The most purchased size is a 14" frame/hoop and the 16" comes in as a close second place purchase. Many quilters will often purchase several sizes of hoops/frames, including a little 12" travel frame for on-the-go projects or smaller projects.
Now should I go with a traditional round or a square hoop? Hmmm? Why use a square hoop vs. a round hoop? Well, to start, a square hoop has a little more surface area in those four corners. For example, a 14" square hoop has the same surface area as a 16" round hoop. This means you don't have to move the fabric in and out of a hoop as much. Next, the square hoop can be used when quilting borders and blocks. You can secure three sides of your quilt equally, and have the edge of the border running through the center of the hoop, and quilt all the way to the edge. When the block fits inside the hoop, it allows you to quilt one block at a time without moving the hoop as often.
Adding a finish to your purchase in my opinion is a smart move. By clear coating the item it will seal and protect the wood for years of use. Think of it as a small piece of prized furniture. Color choices are just for looks but add beauty to the item."

The laptop hoop I bought is beautiful in form and function. The unfinished wood is super smooth, in fact, I had to check that it actually is made of wood. It's a pleasure to touch. It's the perfect height in the lap for quilting, and the square with rounded corners allows for moving the hoop less. The design is very well thought out. Everything is so beautifully rounded and artfully crafted that it's enjoyable just to look at, and a pleasure to use.
I bought this lap frame to replace one I bought from the same maker/seller a good ten years ago and I am replacing it only because I wanted something a little larger. The original one has set stood the test of time and is still going strong.
The seller/maker is very knowledgable about which hoop shapes and sizes will work for your intended craft. He was helpful and professional. I can't recommend the product or the service HIGHLY ENOUGH! There simply isn't anything on the market to compete with this product.
