Introduction...
This quilt saga began in 2001 when I sent a proposal to American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine for a quilt with appliqued blocks and 25-patch alternate blocks.
Most of the blocks were appliqued the week of 9/11. I needed handwork while I was glued to the TV that sad week. In 2002, because I was running late on my deadline, I sent the quilt to Shirley Jenkins in Bella Vista, Arkansas, to hand quilt it for me. She did a lovely job. "Prairie Flowers" was published in the August 2003 issue.
